Samsung N130 Netbook describe

Samsung, a enterprise whose machines have consistently impressed us with solid keyboards, performance, and endurance have added two new machines to their "N" series of netbooks, the Samsung N130 and N140. Both new netbooks have 10.1 inch screens and, unlike many new netbooks, are already ready in the Uk.

Netbooks

Samsung Laptop

Recently all the rage, netbooks are now facing stiff competition from the newest tech craze - tablet computers, and in particular the iPad. There are differences, of course; Apple machines no longer sustain Flash technology, and many people observe that trying to type on a virtual keyboard is not as easy as it seemed in the shop.

Many of the former range of netbooks were cheap looking, almost like toys, but they have grown into fine and reliable machines and have been embraced by casual and enterprise users alike. The N130 offers plentifulness of style without the high price tag, and sports a popular ,favorite develop with a top specification. Samsung's "Easy Resolution Manager" allows you to see the whole photo on your netbook and the photo capability is close to perfection; the N130's 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio immerses you in games and movies with an definite representation so you don't have any black bands encroaching on your picture.

Review

If you're finding for great value performance and a full size laptop is out of the ask you can rely on the Samsung Netbook N130; we bought this model due to strong credit for capability and performance, and low price. The build capability does seem a bit fragile in places; for example, the connecting joint between keyboard and screen seems a bit weak, but we're hoping that it will prove robust enough for those of us who open their netbooks with a bit more gusto than others. We also noticed that the netbook became slightly hot while use, particularly after watching a movie, so it is foremost to make sure the ventilation slots are not obstructed.

Battery

If you want a solid, simple netbook you will like this small gem. It's very lightweight and has good battery life that Samsung claim will last some 6hrs or more. The actual battery life of any portable computer is obviously branch to normal usage and configuration as well as model type, but we took the Samsung N130 out of the box, fully expensed the battery until the light on left front edge went from orange to green when, and left it on for a day. It didn't last 6 hours, but it lasted a lot longer than many full size laptops, even with intermittent usage.

Conclusion

The differences between the N140 are that the screen is slightly different, there are no stereo speakers, no Bluetooth is in case, granted and the battery is of smaller capacity and therefore shorter life. However, the N130 is Samsung's best value netbook and offers a good keyboard, an Intel Atom N270 processor, Microsoft Windows Xp Home Sp3 and features, in the case of our model, a matte white finish.

Verdict - The Samsung N130 is a great funds netbook with a decent specification - ideal for school or college work. Affordability meets state-of-the-art technology. 4/5
